Our Mission

ICBINS seeks to develop and produce new, dynamic works of comedy from an emerging generation of dramatists through a deeply collaborative process in which all members of the company participate and take ownership in the work.

History

I Can't Believe It's Not Shakespeare is a collective founded in May 2008 by two recent graduates of NYU's dramatic writing program, envisioned as a playground for young writers, directors, and actors interested in bringing new comedy to the stage.

Staff

Julia Rae Maldonado, (Artistic Director, Co-Founder)
is a playwright from beautiful San Antonio, Texas and a graduate from Tisch School of the Arts. Her work has been produced and read by ICBINS, First Look, LIU, INTAR, and Classical Stage Studio. Julia is currently studying at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting.

Lauren B. Ferrel, (Managing Director)
is a Texas native and graduate of NYU's College of Arts and Science with a degree in economics. An entertainment law legal assistant by day and a producer by night (and weekends!), she's been with ICBINS from the start and became managing director in January 2009. In her spare time, she fancies sleep and Resident Evil.

Manuel Fernando Perez, (Literary Manager, Co-Founder)
is a playwright and aspiring historian hailing from the heart of South Carolina. His work has been produced by The First Look Company and Classical Stage Studio. Other than ICBINS, his interests include economic justice and wearing Julia's knitting.
